The Sunnyvale Charles Street Community Gardens, is celebrating Earth Day with its 8th Annual Plant Sale on Saturday, April 19, 2014 from 9 AM to 3 PM at 433 Charles Street in Sunnyvale (behind the public library on Olive Ave.).
“This free family-fun Earth Day event will feature a variety of organically grown heirloom tomatoes, vegetables, flowers and herb plants for sale. There will be talks throughout the day on drought tolerant gardening, bee keeping, raising chickens, how to compost, and how to build a raised bed,” said Eric Fulda, garden coordinator. “We’ll also have local artisans, live music, and crafts and stories for the kids.” All proceeds from the plant sale benefit the nonprofit community garden. In 2013, Charles Street Community Garden (CSG) completed its 8th successful year of providing a safe sunny garden park for more than 100 Sunnyvale residents to practice sustainable organic gardening. Last year, CSG welcomed more than 1,000 visitors to its classes, tours, community garden workdays and bi-annual fall and spring plant sales.
